The modern, progressive, society is filled with endless privileges, ranging from “white privilege” and “male privilege” to “thin privilege”, and likely a few million more – after all, the amount of stupid sh*t “social studies” majors – or even mere students – can make up is endless.
Thus it should come as no surprise that the liberal minds (I am using the word “mind” extremely liberally) have come up with “cognitive privilege”.
According to a college paper, the Daily Iowan:
“There are many kinds of privilege besides white privilege: cognitive privilege, for example. We now know that intelligence is not something we have significant control over but is something we are born with. We are living in a society in which success is increasingly linked to one’s intelligence. … Thus, the accident of having been born smart enough to be able to be successful is a great benefit that you did absolutely nothing to earn. Consequently, you have nothing to be proud of for being smart.”
While it is true, that not everyone is born the same, everyone still has endless possibilities to improve and better themselves. But then again, when have the leftists ever cared about achieving something in the first place? Instead, they hang around with the wrong people, waste away their time with reality shows, video games, alcohol and drugs; study useless degrees, and blame everybody but themselves, when they fail in real life.
The most ironic thing is, that it is unlikely the leftists – in general – were born stupid. It went wrong, however, when they stared making bad life choices; being lazy and doing absolutely nothing whatsoever to better themselves. It is easy to criticize people who have put in hard work, made wise life decisions and who -as a result – have become successful, as having some kind of “cognitive privilege”, when all they did, was putting in the effort.
I’d argue, that true intelligence is revealed based on ones ability to deal with consequences – and the good thing is, that this is something that can be improved. Smart people can make mistakes as easily as stupid people, but they will learn from them; instead of whining, and joining the local ANTIFA.
To put it short: Liberal minds fail to understand that privilege – much akin to respect – needs to be earned, not given. Also, we are all equal in opportunities to better ourselves. But one should not expect to have an equality of outcome if he/she hasn’t put in any effort.
